This policy explains how Blossom Peak Productions ("we", "us"), the production company behind Stupid Shoes, handles personal data collected through this website (stupidshoesmovie.com). We keep it short and in plain language.

What we collect
We collect only what you voluntarily give us. Currently, that means:
- Name and email address — when you request the Discussion Guide or sign up for film updates via a form on this site.
- Optional field — how you plan to use the guide (e.g. classroom, clinic, personal), if you choose to answer.
- Ticket purchases — if you buy a ticket, our ticketing provider records your name, email address, which screening you bought and what you paid. We receive that information and store it in our mailing platform so we can contact you about the film.
- Watching the opening excerpt — if you unlock the first few minutes of the film, we store your email address, the date, which link you arrived on, and whether the video was played. We also create a random code that becomes your personal viewing link, so you can come back to it later. We do not store your IP address; we keep only a one-way scrambled version of it, which we use to stop the form being abused and which cannot be turned back into an address.
We never see or store your payment card details — those go directly to our payment processor. We do not collect sensitive personal data, and this site is not directed at children.
Cookies and browser storage
Some of what follows is necessary for the site to work. The rest only happens if you agree, and you are asked before anything is stored.
Necessary — always active
- Ticketing and payment — when you open the checkout, Eventive and Stripe set their own cookies to keep you logged in, hold your basket and prevent fraud. Without these you cannot buy a ticket.
Eventive's checkout also loads its own analytics and advertising tools, which set additional cookies we neither control nor receive data from. Those are governed by Eventive's privacy policy, not this one. Our choices above do not switch them off — if you want to limit them, use your browser's cookie controls or Eventive's own settings.
- Your cookie choice — we store your answer to the banner below so we do not ask again on every page. Kept for one year.
Optional — only with your consent
- Google Analytics — counts visits and shows us which pages people read, so we know what is working. It sets cookies in your browser. Until you accept, Analytics runs in a mode that stores nothing and sends no measurement.
- Campaign attribution — if you arrive from one of our emails or a link we shared, we remember which one for up to 30 days, so we can tell which announcements actually reached people. Stored in your browser, not on our servers.
- Microsoft Clarity — records how pages are used: pointer movement, scrolling, clicks, and which parts of a page people read. We use it to find where the ticket page confuses people, not to identify anyone. Recordings are anonymous, text you type into forms is masked before it leaves your browser, and payment details are never visible to it — those are handled inside our payment processor's own window, which this cannot see. Microsoft's privacy statement. Decline and no recording happens at all.
- Meta pixel — we advertise the film on Instagram and Facebook. If you accept, a small piece of Meta's code runs here and tells them that a visit or a ticket-page click happened, so we can see which ads are working and show follow-up ads to people who looked but didn't buy. It sets Meta's own cookies (
_fbp, _fbc) and shares data with Meta, who are a separate controller for what they do with it. Meta's privacy policy. Decline and none of it loads.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use any of this to make automated decisions about you.

Why we collect it
We use your name and email to:
- Send you the resource you requested (e.g. the Discussion Guide).
- Keep you informed about the film — release date, screenings, and related updates.
We will not use your data for anything else without asking you first. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.
Legal basis
We collect and process your data on the basis of your consent — given when you tick the consent checkbox on our form and submit your details. You may withdraw consent at any time by emailing us (see below).
This site is operated from Switzerland and complies with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nFADP / revDSG). Because we have visitors from the European Union and Australia, we also respect the principles of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Australian Privacy Act 1988.
Who processes your data
We rely on a small number of service providers, each doing one job:
- Brevo — stores our mailing list and sends the newsletter, the Discussion Guide and film updates. Based in the EU. Privacy policy.
- Eventive — sells and delivers tickets, and hosts the online screenings. Eventive is an independent company and uses its own analytics and advertising tools on its checkout; what it collects there is covered by its policy rather than ours. Privacy policy.
- Stripe — processes card payments. Your card details go to Stripe directly and are never seen or stored by us. Privacy policy.
- Google Analytics — website statistics, and only if you have accepted analytics cookies. Privacy policy.
- Microsoft Clarity — anonymous recordings of how pages are used, again only with your consent. Privacy statement.
- Meta — advertising measurement, only with your consent. Privacy policy.
- Hostpoint — hosts this website, in Switzerland.
If you buy a ticket, we copy your name, email, which screening you bought and the amount paid from Eventive into Brevo, so that your ticket and any updates reach you. If you chose not to receive marketing when buying, that choice is carried across and respected.
Apart from these providers, we do not share your data with anyone, and we never sell it.
How long we keep your data
We keep your data for as long as you remain subscribed to our updates, and for up to 3 years after our last communication — or until you ask us to delete it, whichever comes first.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you.
- Correct any inaccurate data.
- Delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Withdraw consent and stop receiving communications from us at any time.
- Object to or restrict certain uses of your data.
- Lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority if you believe we have not handled your data correctly.

Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your data. This site is served over HTTPS. Access to form data is limited to the film's production team.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to how we handle your data, we will update this page and revise the "last updated" date at the top. We encourage you to check back periodically.
